HEAVEN HELPS THOSE WHO BEAR WITNESS TO CHRIST

WEDNESDAY OF THE SECOND WEEK OF EASTERTIDE

Acts 5:17-26

Psalm: 33(34):2-9

John 3:16-21

We continue the compelling conversation between Nicodemus and Jesus by night, exploring the vital role of baptism and the incredible importance of faith in Him—whom the Father has sent as the Mediator, Savior, and Judge of the world. Everyone knows John 3:16—one of the most famous verses in the Bible that summarizes the entire message of Scripture. It’s a verse everyone should know because it captures Jesus’s mission in just a few words: "For God so loved the world..." Do you believe these powerful words? That God truly loves the entire world—the good, the bad, the ugly, the rich, the poor, the young, the old, the sick, the healthy, the angry, the joyful—every one of us. God’s love is endless, His mercy everlasting. This is the ultimate demonstration of divine love—shown in the Incarnation and the ultimate sacrifice on the cross, opening the door to eternal life. This is love at its greatest—while we were still sinners!

Whenever doubts creep in, remember this: God's love is so immense that He gave His own Son for you. He knew we needed a perfect sacrifice, and He knew Jesus was the only One who could fulfill that role. Because of this divine act, we have the incredible opportunity to live forever with God. His greatest desire is for us to be with Him in heaven. Yes, God loves us so deeply that He sent His Son, Jesus, as our sacrifice so we could enjoy eternal life—just for us. All we have to do is believe in Him. We don’t need to be perfect or have all the answers; we only need to trust and love Him by following His commandments. God loves YOU. Do you love God? Are you living by His Word and His will? When we believe in Jesus, we gain eternal life; rejecting Him leads to condemnation. Embracing Christ’s light means escaping darkness—rejecting it leaves us lost in the shadows. He holds the keys to our lives.

Jesus taught with powerful spoken words, passing down His teachings through His apostles—these form the foundation of our faith. The written accounts in the New Testament record His words, but it’s the tradition that helps us interpret them correctly—both are essential. Take today’s first reading: Peter and John boldly proclaimed the new life in Christ, even facing imprisonment. So many details are not given but an angel of the Lord freed them and commanded them to continue their mission. Since Pentecost, and following Jesus’ command in Matthew 28:19-20, they’ve preached the message of repentance and baptism—calling everyone to believe in Jesus Christ and His Resurrection.

Today, the world remains shrouded in darkness through wickedness and sin, but the light of Christ has conquered death once and for all! Through baptism, we are transformed into children of the light—the children of the Resurrection—meaning we don’t truly die; we live forever. Confessing our sins restores our relationship with God, and by His grace, we receive Him as food for eternal life—fuel for our spiritual journey. As priests called by God, we are invited to invoke His name in every sacrament and prayer to the Father through the Holy Spirit. Are you bold enough to surrender fully to God so He can save and care for you? God can eliminate the things that hold you down.Let us call upon His name today—His name that saves! Salvation! His name is above all names: Jesus, Lord, Messiah, King of kings. Alleluia!
