DO NOT BE CONSUMED BY WEALTH
Friday of week 24 in Ordinary Time

Psalm 48(49):6-10,17-20
Luke 8:1-3
In today’s first reading, St. Paul hits us with a powerful truth: “The love of money is the root of all evil.” It’s crucial to understand that it’s the LOVE of money that leads us astray—not money itself! Money can be a tool for incredible good, especially when used to serve Christ. But when we take our eyes off Jesus and let the allure of wealth consume us, our desires spiral out of control. That’s when we fall into the trap set by the enemy! Thankfully, St. Paul provides us with a remedy to steer clear of such peril.
Now, let’s jump to today’s Gospel reading, where we encounter the inspiring example of the holy women who dedicated themselves to Jesus’ mission. These remarkable women recognized that the mission of Christ mattered far more than any material riches. Their fervent love for Jesus eclipsed the fleeting values of this world! Today, we're called to shift our focus—not to chase after funds but to pursue faith! By doing so, we can attain what no amount of money can buy: the incredible gift of eternal life with God! How thrilling is that?
