THE FINAL MOMENTS OF THE YEAR 2024
As we approach the final hour of the year, it is pertinent to reflect on the words from 1 John 2:18: "Children, it is the final hour." With the arrival of New Year’s Day tomorrow, we find ourselves prompted to consider the lessons learned and resolutions for the upcoming year.
In contemplating the past 366 days, I find it essential to acknowledge a spectrum of experiences, both positive and negative. These moments encompass joy and sorrow, but they also bring to mind the various turmoil faced globally—conflicts in numerous nations, acts of terrorism, natural disasters, social upheaval, economic instability, and a troubling prevalence of divisive rhetoric.
It is indeed alarming and disheartening to observe how our society has become increasingly mired in challenges such as selfishness, consumerism, and a lack of empathy for others. Many individuals, myself included, occasionally falter in living up to our higher moral standards, allowing internal clutter to overshadow our better intentions. The emotional toll of these burdens seems to leave little room for positivity, leading to widespread fatigue.
Nevertheless, it is crucial to remember that Immanuel, who lived among us without sin, embodies hope. His presence among us and within our hearts, facilitated by the Holy Spirit, serves as a continual reminder of our potential for renewal.
Reflecting on John’s assertion, “And the Word became flesh, and made his dwelling among us” (John 1:14), prompts critical inquiries: Is there sufficient space for Jesus in my heart? Is He able to reside within me? In considering these questions, I recognize the necessity for introspection and transformation.
Understanding the duality of human nature—both spiritual and material—leads me to formulate the following resolutions for the upcoming year:
1. **Weight Management**: I will work to release the burdens of resentment and bitterness, choosing instead to embrace joy.
2. **Cleanliness and Personal Hygiene**: I will prioritize mental and emotional clarity by eliminating feelings of hatred and pride, thus creating space for love and peace to flourish.
3. **Healthy Eating**: I will nourish my spirit with uplifting and constructive influences.
4. **Personal Development and Exercise **: I will strive to treat each individual I encounter with the reverence and compassion befitting their dignity, embodying love and tolerance while offering a supportive ear.
5. **Reflection and Rejuvenation**: I will set aside time regularly for spiritual reflection, self-examination, and assessment of my personal growth.
As we look toward the new year, I encourage each of you to consider how you will prepare your inner self and make space for divine inspiration in 2025.
Let us express our gratitude to God for the opportunity of new beginnings. We pray for the grace to clear away obstacles that hinder our recognition and acceptance of His presence in our lives. May we all remain steadfast in our commitment to growing closer to Him.
I am thankful for your continued prayers, sincere concern, support and understanding, which I deeply appreciate.
Wishing everyone a Happy New Year in advance.
Thanks my Fada for your teaching and prayers throughout 2024, God will help us to travel the road to the end, Amen. Happy new year.
