KEEP A GOOD ATTITUDE WHILE WAITING FOR THE LORD. YOUR PATIENCE WILL BRING YOU ABUNDANT BLESSINGS.
Romans 8:18-25
Luke 13:18-21
Using familiar imagery in nature Jesus tells us about the kingdom of God. What was the imagery? It is the mustard seed that becomes a mustard tree. it grows quietly but in the end, it grows so big that it provides shelter for the birds of the air that come to it. Similarly, the hand of God is upon us. He constantly blesses us with His presence. He keeps the universe in order and harmony and grant us peace in our trials and struggles. There are so many miracles he grants to us of each day.
Sometimes, we see patience as delay too often as a weakness to be overcomed. It takes a prayerful person who has learnt submissiveness that understands what Patience is. Yes, the toughest part of a journey is the few steps we take at the beginning, nonetheless, fruitfulness comes at the end. Thus, the pace of nature and her secret is patience. Many times, we think that it is by counting our calories, going for gymnastics, and visiting our doctors for medical checkups that we are alive today. They are quite commendable. Above all, it is God who sits on the throne that is keeping us alive for His love for us has no end. Can you see the hand of God at work in your life? How much love do you show God in return for all that he has done for you? How often do you thank him or do you still take God’s Loving Ways for granted? Do you love Him in others?
Are we patient or eager for results in our daily endeavors? Remember that, waiting patiently on the Lord, is the best remedy in every kind of trouble.
By extension, Jesus in today's gospel, is not just speaking of the size of the mustard seed or the yeast in the leaven , but also pointing to the faith of the people . Telling us that just as the mustard seed or the yeast responded to the word of God and grows into a mustard tree or the leavened bread so will the faith of the people grow into great vessel through hearing and doing the word of God and so build up the kingdom of God.
Therefore, what kind of faith do we have? what do you seek first, is it the kingdom of God or earthly pleasures? Do you believe that all that Christ said about the kingdom will come to past? Do you take time to meditate on the mysteries of the kingdom through prayers that people will see you as part of the kingdom? Keep a good attitude while waiting for the Lord and remember that although patience seems to be bitter its fruit is sweet.
May our faith continue to make us grow in the way of the Lord and may we be willing to share our experience of Christian maturity with others. Amen
May the Lord increase the depth of our patience in life. Amen
