We are about to begin a New year. The the year 2023. There is something always new about every Year. There is hope and freshness it brings to our minds on how to start it with new vigour and aspiration from the Holy Spirit. We thank God for his mercy. 

It is often said that the headstart is the best start and God is the beginning and end of all. At the beginning of a new year ( though not advent season) of the secular calendar, we have readings that centers on God as the source of all things and our relationship with him. God loves us and he is ready to protect us. 



In Genesis, we see the creation story in which darkness gives way to light and the world unseen gives birth to the realities that we see. Throughout the ages, God sent his prophets to proclaim his word of truth and light for righteous sake. We have an insight to the mystery and beginning of creation with the prologue of John’s gospel.In the Gospel of John, we are told the origin of creation. The Word is God. The Word is the light and darkness cannot prevail it. Those who accept the Word have access to the light whereas those who do not accept they remain sitted in darkness Christ became flesh born of the virgin and his glory is on our midst. His light fills our days with its rays of hope and blessings. 




The year 2022 has been a rough and challenging one for most of God’s people as aforementioned by John in the first reading. There were a lot of fake predictions, fake news, kidnapping, loss of those who are dear to us, terrorism, insurgencies, killing of innocent lives, economic meltdown, political warfare, etc. Be that as it may, we also thank God for making the year comes to its final hour with the blessings and favour that we have all received. If we count our blessings we will loose count. No matter what we go through God will turn things around for us for good because with him all things are possible. 



As we welcome the New Year 2023 May God’s protection be upon us all and May the future that lies ahead bring bountiful blessings Amen.

Despite being confronted with the truth, they are too afraid to change and miss the opportunity for a conversion of heart. Instead, they react defensively and deceive themselves, eventually acting out the negative roles depicted in the parable.  The Church commemorates the Martyrs of Uganda today, particularly St. Charles Lwanga and their companions, who bore witness to Christ by sacrificing their lives. This serves as a reminder for us to be faithful stewards of God's creation and caretakers of His people, willing to serve with love and faith, even to the point of laying down our lives.
