  ECCL 11:9—12:8 LK 9:43B-45 In today's Gospel, as Jesus goes up to Jerusalem together with his disciples, he revealed to them again his passion and yet they did not understand the messianic knowledge, they were still yet to grasp fully the truth about his mission.  Every believer understands that to know God is the highest and best form of knowledge; and this spiritual knowledge is a source of strength to the Christian. It strengthens his faith. Believers are constantly spoken of in the Scriptures as being persons who are enlightened and taught by the Lord; they are said to “have an unction to function from the Holy One,” and it is the Spirit’s peculiar office to lead them into all truth, and all this for the increase and the fostering of their faith.  To be a witness for Christ is to be ready to go whenever and wherever He calls us to serve.   Memorial of Saint Pius of Pietrelcina, Priest Eccl 3:1-11 LK 9:18-22 In today’s Gospel (Lk 9:18-22) we see Peter make his great profession of faith when Jesus asked the disciples who they say He is. In their reply they also tell Him what the people think and it echoes the text we had yesterday in which Herod reminds others that he had John the Baptist beheaded.  Jesus is the Christ of God and    that is the faith that we are called to repeat with Peter each day. But do we truly believe that or are we still blind like the people of old? For if we truly believed then our lives and this world would be so much better. May God give us the grace to continue to profess our faith in Jesus, d Christ, not only with our words, but also by our every action! Amen.   Eccl 1:2-11 Luke 9:7-9 Vanity of vanities...all things are vanity! Apart from God all is vanity and the ends of all worldly goods are empty. He was called by Christ while making account as tax collector and after that encounter, his life was never the same. He serve God wholeheartedly and obey His commandments.   Proverbs 21:1-6,10-13 Luke 8:19-21 The book of Proverbs essentially consists of applied moral principles . It enjoins the people to obey the law rather than just hearing it alone. But why is the moral law so important for this people when some of us consider the law as a heavy burden placed on our shoulders? Proverbs 10:6-7 says “Blessings are for the head of the just;but the mouth of the wicked conceals violence.*The memory of the just serves as blessing, Psalm 19:1 tells us that ‘the law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.’  Therefore, whoever desires perfection and true wisdom must seek the law of the Lord. For observing the law of the Lord is the highest good we can do for our benefit and that of one another.   Proverbs 3:27-34 Luke 8:16-18 Shine, Let your light shine for others to see!  Every opportunity we have, must be use for ourselves and others. In today’s gospel,Jesus warned against hiding a lighted lamp under a. bushel, basket, bed ( I presume hiding it under the bed looks really dangerous), any hidden or secret place. Luke 8:16; Mark 4:21; Matthew 5:15; Luke 8:16; Luke 11:33.  What this underscores, is that there is always a link between our truthful and full love of God and honest lives, and the revelation of God’s glory in our lives. Am I focusing on what is truth, the commandments of God or am I neglecting the spiritual as we often wont to do? The nature of our preparation determines the magnitude of God’s glory we exude in our lives.
