HAVE NO FEAR, PUT ON THE LOVE OF GOD AND LET IT BE YOUR GUIDING PRINCIPLE

Image
Wednesday after Epiphany Sunday  1 John 4:11-18 Psalm 71(72):1-2,10-13 Mark 6:45-52 In today's first reading, we reflect on love: “... if God so loved us, we also ought to love another... God is love and he who abides in love abides in God and God abides in him”. We look for God often, but He’s within reach. We only need love to see God in our community. This love to endure, praying that we would pass through themesus’ death to save us: “Greater love than this no man has than that a man should lay down his life for his friends”(John 15:13). It’s not selfish love, which characterizes much of our world, causing unchristian acts and lack of peace.   In today’s gospel, after Jesus fed the multitudes. He escaped and told the disciples to get into the boat. As they sailed, a storm rose, and Jesus walked on the em. The disciples were terrified, thinking He was a ghost, but it was Jesus. “Perfect love casts out fear” (1 John 4:18). When we truly love, fears vanish. This may des...

God loves you…show that love to others!

God loves you…show that love to others!  Tuesday after Epiphany Sunday  1 John 4:7-10 Psalm 71(72):1-4,7-8 Mark 6:34-44 God loves you; show that love to others.  Today’s reading emphasizes loving God and others, inspired by God's love poured into us through Jesus. Reflect on whether the love in your heart is universal, selfish, or selfless, and strive to act as Christ showed. Our mission depends on God's will, and as a pilgrim Church, we are called to follow Jesus’ Epiphany and mission. We should support policies that promote peace and respond to the suffering of marginalized people. Through baptism, we are called to hear and act on the needs of the poor, needy, and oppressed. Let God's salvation pass through us today, transforming and purifying us. May this year guide us to follow Christ's light and mission in all we do. Amen.

You are a child of God and deserve love!

Monday after Epiphany Sunday  1 John 3:22-4:6 Psalm 2:7-8,10-11 Matthew 4:12-17,23-25 In today’s gospel, Jesus replies to John's message of repentance, urging belief in Him—the good news He brings. This good news is Jesus Himself, the eternal Son of God, embodying truth, hope, salvation, peace, and joy. His coming aims to make us children of God, offering eternal life and perfect happiness that consist in the vision of the divine essence. A life of joy and peace that last forever. Understanding this helps us see God's love clearly. We should ask: Are we showing God’s love to others? Are we open to experiencing God's love ourselves? Do we listen to Jesus’s words, “Take courage, it is I, do not be afraid?” Jesus’s path may be narrow but simple—mysterious, yet perfect and true. Let us love God and one another, and accept love in return. During Christmas and always, remember: God is love, and He is with us. Know God and make Him known! May this year find you following Christ...

SEEKING HIM WHO SEEKS US FIRST (WE ARE THE THREE KINGS…)

Image
The Epiphany of the Lord Isaiah 60:1-6 Psalm 71(72):1-2,7-8,10-13 Matthew 2:1-12 Today's feast of Christ's Epiphany highlights God's love for all mankind especially the unconverted, reminding us that many souls haven't yet found or begun to seek Christ. The three wise men symbolize the pagan world, representing those without faith, many of whom are innocent of blame. Despite rapid communication, countless people still don’t know who Jesus is or what His name means. They deserve our love, prayers, and sacrifices, not condemnation.  The Holy Spirit can work in hearts unaware of His presence, as it did with the Magi, who saw celestial signs guiding them to Christ. However, astrology and occult practices are not legitimate for us today. God can draw all good-willed people to faith, even through faint signs like a star, symbolizing the light of faith given by God's mercy. We should not dismiss those at early stages of faith, for their journey may take years of prayer a...

PREPARE YOUR MIND AND HEART TO ENCOUNTER GOD DAILY

Image
3 January  1 John 2:29-3:6 Psalm 97(98):1,3-6 John 1:29-34 When John the Baptist saw Jesus approaching, there was no obvious sign of his divinity. Jesus’s ministry was beginning, and he hadn’t yet gathered disciples. Yet, John knew to call Jesus the “Lamb of God” and “Son of God” because the Spirit prepared him. The Lord had told John how to recognize Jesus before his baptism: “I did not know him, but the one who sent me to baptize with water told me...”  Similarly, the Spirit prepares us in prayer for future blessings or trials. Jesus enters my life daily disguised as a friend, neighbor, or colleague. Recognizing and loving him requires being prepared by the Spirit.  May the Lord, help us realize who we are often today as we spend quiet moments praying. SPIRITUAL THOUGHT OF SAINT JOSEPH MARELLO JANUARY 02 And so, my dear friend, when are we really going to start? In nomine Domini nostri Jesu Christi, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, right now!

Saints Basil the Great and Gregory Nazianzen, Bishops, Doctors  1 John 2:22-28 Psalm 97(98):1-4 John 1:19-28 John the Baptist was the greatest among those born to women, Jesus told his disciples in Matthew 11:11, “yet the least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he…” Like John, Saints Basil and Gregory, whose feast we celebrate today, were truly great men: best friends, bishops, and doctors of the Church. Saint Gregory said of their friendship, “…our great pursuit, the great name we wanted, was to be Christians, to be called Christians.” He said that the two friends had a single objective: “virtue, and a life of hope in the blessings that are to come…” We were all born to be great (i.e., saints in heaven), whether we’re locust-eating preachers, bishop besties, or ordinary twenty-first century Catholics. SPIRITUAL THOUGHT OF SAINT JOSEPH MARELLO JANUARY 01 Solemnity of Mary, the Mother of God It was well said by saint Gregory of Nazarene that whoever does not hold Mary ...
